It looks to me that it is a spelling variation/English
translation, of the Irish name of O'SHAUGHLIN, or MacGiolla
SEACHLAN, who was a chief in what is now the parish of Dysart in Westmeath.
GIOLLA = "servant, disciple, minister, page", which indicates
that there might have been a Saint by the name of SEACHLAN.
Suggest you locate one (or all) of these Irish surname books;
Authors: WOULFE, BELL, McLYSAGHT.
