I take it you're using GENIRE as a gateway to the newsgroup. The newsgroup
is soc.genealogy.ireland and it's for discussion of any aspect of Irish
genealogy, not just the provision of hints on research. For good or ill,
you can say just about whatever you like in the newsgroup without being
thrown out. While the issue being discussed in this thread might not be of
interest to you (or the vast majority of listers perhaps), it is a serious
matter.
