Actually I believe its the use of the Harp in the queen's flag that drives
Irish up the wall, at least it did for my Grandfather. My Mother tells me
stories of him becoming livid whenever seeing that flag. It reminded him of
the arrogance of the british monarchy (lower case on purpose) towards Ireland
and all the years and years of oppression that our family and the generations
before had to deal with. The other symbols on the queen's flag represent
Scotland, Wales, and england.
