Thanks for that John. I have all the plot numbers for my family so it is a
case of getting hold of the map for the village (Ballickmoyler) to show me
exactly where they lived.

Talk about a RIP OFF. I fail to see in this age of technology and
competition how the Irish authorities can justify charging us amature
researchers such a large sum of money, (£20), for one sheet of A3 paper
which costs pence to buy and no more than 5pence to copy and then of course
there is the postage, it must be all of 50pence to post it to England.

When I visit Kew PRO I can search as many documents as I want for a whole
day for free and if I want a copy it only costs about a £1 or there abouts
per document. It certanly dosent cost £20.

I believe in the theory that if you charge less you get more.

I have read the answers you have got to your query. I can`t understand why
people have to hurl insults but thats by the way. If you are in fact in
possession of the map reference as shown in Griffiths pertaining to your
ancestors holding then as far as I am aware the only place where you can get
a copy of the map which shows the actual boundaries of the holding is the
Valuation Office, Irish Life Bldg, Lwr Abbey St., Dublin. Using that
reference you can track the occupancy of that holding through the Land
Cancellation Books right up to modern times. These books are also in the
Valuation Office and there is a charge of £12 per hour to view them.
