Dear Helen,
In the Civil War of 1921-1922, the Public Records Office then housed in the
Treasury Room of the Four Courts in Dublin, suffered a direct hit during the
course of action and a huge amount of Irish archives were lost. Therefore
there are no Census records for 1821 and onward. It is for this reason that
the Census records of 1901 and 1911 were made available before the 100 year
restriction. There are fragment for some counties and the list is available
at the Public Records Office, Bishop Street, Dublin 8.
Good luck.
