Records for the enlistment soldiers back in the 1840's who sent out to India
and then when not fit enough for active service were returned home.
Later they then joined the Fencible Soldiers and were sent out to New
Zealand to defend Auckland against the Maori Wars.
My gggrandfather was Michael MCMULLEN was one who served in India and then
came to NZ 1848, also on board the barque 'ANN' was another soldier with the
same surname Hugh MCMULLEN, have not been able to establish what relation
they are.
Would appreciate any help on where to find the original enlistment records
for the two men, they should (fingers crossed) show me who their parents
were.
