Dear David
After several weeks spent at my pied a terre in Belgravia I am finally
in a position to research this matter in my library. I'm afraid the
prognosis is not good.
In Burkes Landed Gentry of Ireland 1958 the following line is given
within the entry of Fitzgerald the Knight of Glin,
Edmond, father of

DSP 1773
The wives and siblings you give to each male match those in Burkes.
This would lead me to believe that your informant has garbled the
lineage in Burkes to make Thomas the father of Gerald and has moved
the chronology so as to tack on Katherine born circa 1688 as daughter
of Edmond, who in reality died without children in 1773.
I conclude that the genealogy of Katherine is false. Perhaps John is
right and she did kiss a frog, don glass slippers and was imprisoned
in a tower after her ordeal as "daughter" of the Knight of Glin.
My account is in the post.
Yours, etc
