Here is an excerpt from TIARA'S customer response survey on
the Tipperary Heritage Unit:

" I have a friend who was searching for records in Clonmel,
Tipperary and she paid money to the Tipperary Heritage
Center and after 6 months she was told they had no records
for St. Mary's Church.
My friend had another friend look for the same records and
found they were held in the Waterford Heritage Center. This
is now a known fact, but why don't these people tell you
something as obvious as where the records are held. I don't
like to sound critical but it is very frustrating. It seems
from our end like the whole thing is a "con" job to take
your money but no one is conscientious enough to do the
work. [Survey 10143] "

"I was looking for a birth record for Cashel, c. 1809. It
was very frustrating in not being able to look at the
records -- even after a request to the Bishop. It has often
been my experience that "serendipity" provides many answers
but not if you cannot see the material yourself... Also
considering the exchange rate, I found $24 excessive for a
simple, short form, baptismal, record. [Survey 10053] "

"The Tipperary Heritage Unit were most unhelpful and when I
pointed out to them that they had researched in the wrong
parish they were unwilling to correct their mistake. [Survey
10060] "

"Tipperary Heritage Unit was wonderful both online and via
mail. [Survey 10121] "

"The Tipperary Heritage Unit left me less than thrilled. I
sent them much more information about an extended family
than I got back. Again, no xeroxes of the original records.
I had been operating under the impression that they would be
pursuing the entire family, whereas they checked only on one
of the sons. Since then, the Unit has not replied to any
written or email letters, not even to state their position
on the matter. In addition, the Unit suggested an all parish
search (significantly more expensive), even though the
information supplied them was specific to just a few
parishes. If the Unit had no intention of doing anything but
one of the sons, for so much money, they should have said
so, rather than leaving me with the mistaken impression that
they would research the group. [Survey 10148] "

That spoke for itself - didn't it? That's 80% " Thumbs down"
and 20% "Up" - 4 Negatives out of 5 comments.
