Hi,

Made a telephone call to NYPD Personnel - Records Dept today and
thought you would be interested in the results.

Records prior to NYC's incorporation of 1898 are archived
independently of NYPD post-1898 records. Person I spoke with is
sending me a list of where pre- and post-1898 archived records are
held. He did mention search info must include year of retirement or
leave of PD.

AND, it is okay for me to post this info on the 'Net!!!

So, Fellow-Rooters, when I receive this info from NYPD I will post
it on soc.genealogy.methods. Or for an e-mail copy, send me a private
e-mail with NYPD Archives in the message.
