Hello everyone,

I agree - "aunt" or "uncle" refers to either the direct blood line or the
spouse who has married into the family.

This is what happened in our family with grandparents and great
grandparents - When our first child was on the way, I had 3 grandparents
alive and both sets of parents were still living. I called my
grandparents, Bo, Nan and Pop (too detailed to go into why Bo), and I asked
my parents what they wanted to be called and they came up with Deedee and
Jaycee (their initials DD & JC). My husband's parents wanted to be called
Gran and Grandad. There was no confusion as to who one was referring to
because all people had a different name for the grandchildren.

Have a good day,

Karen Donnybrook, Western Australia
