not 'Lump Sum Payment' - it's Last Payment

Not sure if they still do this or not, but the SSA used to provide a
payment on death to help with funeral expenses

sometimes, other times the heirs are minors or have disabilities & the
SSA continues/begins the parent's SS payments to these beneficiaries.
My husband's mother died in 1966 when he was 7 years old. He received
SS payments until he turned 18. I have a 23 year old cousin with Down's
Syndrome who will probably receive SS from her deceased father's account
until she dies.

I'm pretty sure beneficiaries must provide proof of death & apply for
the SS benefits - it's not automatic...

LP = Last Payment (usually to beneficiaries)
LR = Last residence
