Mike: My recollection is that this (under a name similar to those you
suggest) is not a genealogical database, but a union card catalog of
the holdings of participating university and other libraries in CA.

If you daughter wants to get an overview of genealogical material on
the internet - and perhaps some specific sites she can use - have her
