My grandmother, b. 1876, d. 1959, always called her first cousins her "own"
cousins. However, my OTHER grandmother, b. 1887, d. 1965, never used that
term. The "own" cousin grandmother was from Michigan, the other from
Indiana. Maybe it's a colloquial term.
