SURNAME[, optional Given Name]; Place(s); Dates

The ; are necessary field separators. The Surname is in all caps.
Given names (if any) are in mixed case. Places must include a
country, and the format for those is strictly defined.

ie: RUSSELL, Alexander; MOR,SCT > NS,CAN; 1830-
or RUSSELL; Elgin, Morayshire, SCT > Halifax, CAN; c 1850
or RUSSELL/SIMPSON; SCT; 1830-1900

or other variants - all of which must have the two ; and need the
SCT and CAN

Yes. See http://www.rootsweb.com/~surnames for more information.
You can also write to to get
individualized help.

We've had an unknown problem with email delivery to the
automoderator which checks the subject lines. Try mailing your
messages to . That address has
been working reliably while has been flaky.

[ There are also problems with the mail hubs which route traffic
for all moderated newsgroups. These problems cause random lossage
of posts; if you don't see your post appear in a moderated group
and you don't receive an email response from the moderator, then
you should always trying posting again. -Mod ]

You should always see your message OR get an email response from the
automoderator saying the subject lines needs modification. If you
hear nothing. either the automoderator did not get the message or
you did not get the reply because your address as written on your
message is invalid. People who use spam-blocking addresses for
posts don't get mail sent to them, obviously.

It is also possible that the message got posted but for some reason
your ISP doesn't get all the messages.

Ask at if you have just had no response
at all.
