Hi,

One of the messages said that this list has been down for 2 years.
I have only had a computer for 6 months so I don't know how I got on
this list. But I sure am glad I did as this seems to be a list for
brick walls. We certainly do have a brick wall. I see another
FINCHER has responded to your message. It is like fate or something.

This is my brick wall....

SILAS JORDAN FINCHER born December 29, 1812 in Union County (now
Mecklenburg County), NC. and died August 30, 1880 in Chesterfield
County, SC. He was married 3 times S.B. STARNES, ELIZABETH BLOUNT,
and MARY ELLEN JAMES BARNES and had something like 24 children. He
was a traveling preacher.

"Legend" has it that originally 5 brothers came to America and had
at one time owned Times Square and lost it, but we can't find the
links from then to 1812. We are stuck in 1812. Like I said that
is legend and I only tell you because it is something that would be
easy to remember if anybody had that same story in their history.
This story is what led me to the New York City mailing list.

SYLVANUS, SILAS and ALPHEUS are very common names in our family and
this is what led me to the FINCH mailing list.

We have been to the Charlotte, NC library and have checked
Genealogy.Com., Ancestry.Com and LDS. I am on mailing list for
FINCHER, South Carolina, Mecklenburg, NC, New York City, FINCH,
Chesterfield, SC, Lancaster, SC and several others. (probably how
I stumbled onto this one.)

I am all out of ideas. Does anyone out there have any?
