It probably is something simple, but I love to make those kind of
errors myself.

I would first look at the area under
Family Page > More > Lineage >
and see if something other than "natural" parent was checked for the
person who has an abbreviated kinship report.

there is also a check mark here to "Exclude this relationship from
Trees and Kinship" that could be causing the problem.
