Hi Janet

How exciting! I believe that your Joseph George is my ggg grandfather's
brother (is that too many g's?)

Some time ago, my eldest son and I researched a lot of these records. We
really need to do it again, now that so many more records are available.
We found Joseph - and his 7 older brothers and sisters - were children
of Thomas George (1758 - 1834) and his wife Comfort nee Mason (abt 1769
- ?). The family mostly lived in Bushley, Worcestershire. William George
(1800 - 1880) is my ggg grandfather.

I'm fascinated (but not hugely surprised) that the children of your
Joseph and Hannah, with a couple of exceptions, were given the names of
Joseph's uncles and aunts. In the parish records, we also found Joseph
and Hannah had two younger children, Cormell and another Thomas.

Our Georges moved to Gloucester - Thomas George and Sons, coal merchant
- where my grandmother and father were born. I'm now living in West
Yorkshire.

I would love to talk to you about your family, and compare notes.

Please send me an email off-list to or to my
list email

You've made my day! Thanks very much

Colin
