My George relatives immigrated in the second half of the 1800's from
Cornwall, England. I don't think our lines are even related. Good
luck. It is so hard to search on a last name that is also a given
name, and I have several of these types of names which I am reseaching.
Carla
In our district we have Georges from Cornwall who had been tin miners.
I have their village noted somewhere. They came here to New Zealand mid-
19th century.
David George.
Many of the Cornish miners who came to the goldfields had Welsh sounding
names
[including George]. I have always wondered if the Cornish mining fraternity
had a lot of Welsh migrants at one time. -D.
