Roberta: I think I'm a German George from PA. I have been looking at the Abraham George line for some time trying to figure out if my Jonathan George (b. about 1798) is a sone of Abraham or any of his siblings. I've come to a standstill with Jonathan. A book about Columbia County, PA people stated that Jonathan was born in Germany, but Jonathan listed his own birth place as PA on one of the censuses. So I don't think he came from Germany, but I do think the family is Germany. They lived in a German community in Columbia County, PA. Jonathan is buried in a cemetery in Numidia, PA, with a lots of his children.

I can't help you with Abraham's parents, but do you know if Abraham had a son Jonathan?

I have been following all the comments and agree that it is great to see
the list
"come alive".. Are there any German Georges from PA out there? I am
still
searching for the parents of my Abraham George b. 1773 in Berks Co. His
family lived in the Clayton area of Hereford Twp. Surely there are some
descendants from his siblings. Would love to hear from you. He was said
to
have several brothers.

I, too, lived with the "Georgy Porgy" bit during grade school but as I
became
a teenager that moniker changed to "Gorgeous George". All that is a dim
memory now.
