Subject: Mormons not allowed to research ?
Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 08:37:47 +0200
this thread is about LDS not being allowed to microfilm Saratov's
archives.
- and foreign churche being "thrown" out of Russia.

The fact is that Russia does not want any charismatic churches taking
over its people, but to ban only charismatic churches is too difficult,
so it is proposed that only bona fide churches are allowed to operate in
Russia - eg century-long accredited religions such as islam, Buddhism,
Protestants, Catholics, Jews etc... all those who were practicising in
Russian at the time of the Tzar or 50 years ago. All new fangled
religions that have npt be practicising in Russia for over 50 years are
to be banned. This also suits the Russian Orhtodox church, which
prefers Russians to adhere to the Russian National Religion: Orthodoxy.
As to Mormons being called "dirty", I do not know, but might reflect the
fact that they used to practise poligamy.
