Marie Jacobson Gothier, 90, of Greeley died Thursday, Jan. 30, at Hospice
and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit in Greeley.
She was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Enid, Okla., to Ira and Ida (Shaffer) Waddle.
Mrs. Gothier moved to Colorado at 14 months old, when her parents
homesteaded on the Western Slope, southeast of Hayden. She graduated from
Hayden Union High School in 1931 and later attended college at Denver
University. While in Denver, she met her husband, Ken Jacobson. The family
was stationed in Seattle during World War II but returned to Colorado in
1945.
In 1952, the family moved to Greeley, where Mrs. Gothier had lived since.
Her husband died in 1971.
Mrs. Gothier was a homemaker and was active in several youth organizations
in the community and at First Congregational Church. She loved growing and
arranging flowers, knitting, sewing, painting, cooking, antiquing and
entertaining.
In 1972, she married Gerald Gothier. He died in 1992. The couple enjoyed
hiking, dancing, travel, bridge groups and family gatherings.
Survivors are two daughters, Linda Kreibich of Denver and Dot Diemer of
Greeley; a son, Les Jacobson of Colorado Springs; two stepdaughters, Janet
and Mary Hill, and a stepson, Tom Gothier, all of Loveland; and five
grandchildren, Bryce and Grant Cox, Ginger and Susan Kreibich and Gina
Johnson. Her parents, a brother, Leonard Waddle, and a granddaughter, Pam
Kreibich, are deceased.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bonell Good Samaritan Center Chapel in
Greeley. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
Friends may visit from 1-2 p.m. today at Bonell.
Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel in Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
