That's my whole point.
Children are happy little creatures, as long as they are fed and have
kind parents -
the environment hardly matters, as kids can't compare, have no point of
reference and no memories "of better times" -
Luckily, our camp was on the edge of Sherwood Forest.
I've spoken to GR kids whose parents were sent to Siberian Omks' factories
and into exile in the Arctic circle - all these kids - despite obvious privitation,
and meagre food = all have wonderful memories riding asses / donkeys through the
steppes, drinking mares' mik, or foraging in forests for berries and mushrooms
and selling them - at that age, life is a wonderful adventure of discovery.
