Thelma Winter, 87, of Windsor died Feb. 11, 2003 at North Colorado Medical
Center in Greeley. Memorial services were held Feb. 14 at Bethel Lutheran
Church with the interment at Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor.
Thelma was born Feb. 21, 1915 in Fort Collins to Charles Edward and Matilda
(Jensen) Elliott.
She was reared and educated in Fort Collins, graduating from Fort Collins
High School. She then attended Colorado A&M, now Colorado State University.
On Jan. 5, 1935 she married Adolph Winter in Fort Collins. After their
marriage she and her husband farmed and later purchased a farm north of
Windsor where they were involved with a cattle and sheep feeding operation.
Adolph died July 7, 1996.
Thelma enjoyed doing china painting and playing bridge. She and her husband
enjoyed fishing trips together and traveling and also loved dogs.
Thelma was a member of Ceramic Painters Guild, where she served as
president, among other offices, and was also a member of various women's
clubs in Windsor and bridge clubs in Windsor. She also attended Timberline
Church in Fort Collins.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jack and Donna Winter of Greeley;
daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Robert L. Hettinger of Windsor; brother
Irwin C. Elliott of Littleton; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by grandchildren Russell Lee Hettinger and
Charles Eugene Hettinger and brother Delmar Peterson.
