I want to recommend John's tours to Russia to anyone who is even
slightly
considering going. I went on the trip in 1999 with a great group of
people.
There was a bit of turmoil in Russia at the time, but what country can
you
go to where there isn't the possiblity of terrorism? I wonder if people
worry about coming to the US because of terrorism possibilities? Sure,
I
was a little worried, but the opportunity to walk in the village of my
ancestors was a too wonderful to give up. And I'm glad I took the
chance,
because it was the experience of a lifetime.

We had no problems whatsoever. No one bothererd us, or even treated us
unkindly. Quite the opposite was the case--once they found out we were
visitors, they welcomed us with open arms and treated us very sweetly.
The
price is sure a great value--cheaper than when we went in 1999! And
John
has been over so many times that he knows what to do and what not to do,
and
where to go and where not to go. The translators were knowledgeable and
very helpful. I asked many questions of them, and I even ventured out
on
the streets of Moscow and Saratov alone and had no problems finding my
way
to the stores and buying things (and I know very little Russian). But I
would recommend that you travel in groups, just for safety's sake.

I hope that each of you gets a chance to experience Russia at least once
in
your lifetime. The people, the food, the sights--it truly is a rich
cultural experience which I hope to repeat!
