Amalia Behnke, 100, formerly of 1318 N. 31st St., died at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, Friday evening, Dec. 24, 2004.
Molly was born Dec. 5, 1904 in Russia to Carl and Sophia (Shander) Rempe. The family immigrated to the United States in 1912 and made Sheboygan their home.
She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
On July 6, 1935 Molly was united in marriage to Albinus F. Behnke. He preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1997.
Mrs. Behnke was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
Until very recently, Molly was able to tend to her flowerbeds and relish the beauty that they gave her.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Behnke of rural Kiel; a grandson, Kenneth Jr. (Lori) Behnke of Kiel and their children, Felicia, Natasha, Elizabeth and Benjamin; a granddaughter, Jacquelyn (Stephen) Burmesch and their children, Curtis, Amalia, Lillyan, Mileana and Eliza, all of Fredonia; and other family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Ehlert.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Ballhorn Chapels.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
