The Morton-Allan Directory is the book I used to find out about
ships landing at Philadelphia and Baltimore. It includes other
ports too. You can find it online at --

Next to "Search for" click on "ports of arrival", then fill in
the port name at the right.
Below that select the date of arrival that you want to start
from next to "From".
Then you will get pages and pages of all the ships that landed
at that port with information about where the ship departed
from.
Note that it covers the ships from 1890 to 1930 only.
It does not include the date of departure, although the
actual Morton-Allan book does include that I think.
