I know the port and date of arrival of my grandmother and her
sister-in-law. I want to get a copy of the passenger list but
I am befuddled by what I find on the NARA web pages. Their
ship arrived Oct 29, 1912 in Philadelphia. This web page

http://www.archives.gov/publications/microfilm_catalogs/immigrant/microfilm_61_rolls_t526.html

appears to list microfilms by last name of passenger (using Soundex).
My grandmother and her sister-in-law had different last names. From
what I can tell, one of them is on roll #6 and the other is on roll
#22.

They came together and are on the same passenger list. Why would
they be on different rolls of microfilm?

Has anybody tried to understand the NARA system above?

Thank you,
