Clyde M. Zimmerman, 76, of Billings, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Billings Clinic.
Clyde was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Fairview, Mont., the son of Henry W. and Anna M. (Schaible) Zimmerman.
He was drafted in to the Marine Crops and after his honorable discharge from the Marines he went to work as a telegrapher for Great Northern Railroad and later was the custodian at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
He loved bicycles, motorcycles, belt buckles, taking photos, reminiscing and visiting museums. The most dangerous thing on the road was Clyde with a map and his penchant for exploring every rural road in Montana while looking for ghost towns or just to "see where it goes." Clyde cherished his faith and the fellowship of Hope Lutheran Church where he loved to volunteer and be an all-around helper.
Clyde loved life and filled it with his laughing shout of joy often accompanied by an enthusiastic handclap. He loved to debate and was not shy about expressing his opinions, in English or in German. God must have needed a willing worker with a quick wit. He will be missed.
He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Zimmerman of Billings, DeAnna (John) Hoenshell of Davenport, Iowa, and his brothers, Dwayne (Sherry) Zimmerman of Billings, Glen (Ruby) Zimmerman of Whitefish, and sister-in-law, Darlene Zimmerman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Kathy and Elizabeth Hoenshell, Traci, Julie, Craig Zimmerman and Brain Zimmerman.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Zimmerman.
Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Hope Lutheran Church in Lockwood.
Arrangements are by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
