Hi Don. I appreciate you and others trying to help. But apparently I, and some unknown number of others, am/are beyond help. Here is my tale of woe:
I go to ahsgr.org
I click on visit SOAR
I click on search SOAR
I ask to see obits for Henry Kraus (using the and option)
It shows me there are a bunch of such men in the obits.
I ask to view the obit that was published 02/18/1951, born 11/26/1872, died 02/18/1951.
I click the space bar as suggested (I get the same result whether I click the space bar or not)
Instead of viewing an obit, no matter which one I have asked for, or even if I have asked to see something other than an obit, I get:

[30]-Error: cannot communicate. (The system cannot find the file specified) Contact a SOAR Coordinator.

I live in an area where no cable company will provide service, where the telephone will not provide lines that will carry high speed Internet connections, and where I am dependent on Hughes satellite service for the best Internet connection I can get. The SOAR Coordinator tells me that that connection is too slow to allow the mechanism in the SOAR site that displays the texts to work. So this great resource which we have created is of no use to me. I am pleased that most of you find it so useful that you cannot understand how someone could have a problem with it ... but I, and others I am told, remain very frustrated. PS if anyone believes there is a solution to this, please tell me what to do next.

Maybe I can help,
Access to the SOAR data information can be accessed via the American
Historical Society of Germans from Russia, (AHSGR) web site. at....click
below....

Once on the site take a look to the far right and and you will see a place
to access the SOAR data base site. "VISIT SOAR"

Click on it and read about SOAR.

Once on the SOAR web site read the information. Then look on the left hand
side and you can click on "search SOAR" or in the middle of the information
there is a pull down window for several categories of information. Select
one, click "go" and it will take you to an explanation of that feature.
Return to the main SOAR page, then go to the left side and select "Search
SOAR" once on the next page select ,via a pull down, and enter the
information as requested to do your search. If you do not have all the in
formation needed , enter what you know and give it a go...may or may not be
enough but most often it will be enough to do a search and return
information.

Follow the instructions and if you get stuck, contact the SOAR
administration person as listed on the site.

Give it a go.. be patient...read the instructions..learn....be patient.
It took me awhile but but the results are worth the learning curve.
