Hello Ed.
I have been searching the elusive Sperl's for about almost two years. I
would be very much interested in any information (pdf) about the old country
that you may have. If there is a book on the history I would like to buy a
copy if it is available. I had found the German Bohemian Society (in
MN) and had written a email a few months back; but had not received any reply.
A lot of the names are the same that were given to the
Sperl line in Millvale.
I did get some information from the Diocese of Pittsburgh. If you are
interested I could send it. There a lot of Sperl Families in Western PA. I
also have two other woman whom I am writing to who also are researching these
Millvale lines.
Anton Sperl b. 1860 Rosshaupt Bohemia; and Katharina RAUSCHER Sperl also
from Rosshaupt, Bohemia b. 1864. They were married c. 1885; I have not found
the records from that marriage. They emigrated separately, and married in
Millvale. They had about ten children and very few of them managed to live
to adulthood. One of their children was John Crist Sperl who was my
husband's grandfather.
Anton died in 1899 just after the birth of John and Katharina remarried to
Joseph Nosseck and she died in 1947. I do not think there is a history;
guess it will be up to me to research and write what I find. My Sperl lines
were in farming, and in one of the census Katharia was listed as a dairy owner.
During the Great Depression they made money as "hucksters" selling vegtables.
I will check out your sites.

Claudia , Nelson and Ed,
The Church records from Rolßhaupt are in the Pilsen archives. You can
access the listing at:
www.genealogienetz.de/reg/SUD/kb/rosshaupt.html
Roßhaupt is in Kres (County) Tachau. Tachau has a Heimatmuseum
(Homland museum) in Weiden, Bavaria. They have a web site at:
www.tachau,de
I have a Heimat Atlas from Kreis Tachau that has the history of the
village of Roßhaupt (in German), a map of the village and a listing
of the residents in 1945.
I would be happy to send you a .pdf scan of this information.
There are several immigrant families from Roßhaupt that came to
Mankato, Minnesota also, the Hüttel family for example.
Ed,
I would be most interested in a listing of the German-Bohemian
families and villages of origin that came to Millvale. I did know
that there were German-Bohemian immigrants who worked in the
Pittsburgh glass industries.
Sperl is a name well known in New Ulm, Minnesota.
Is there any history written about the German-Bohemians to your
area? Does the church history of St. Anthony make mention of tthe
German-Bohemian familie?
With Most Interest,Regards,
Bob Paulson
