Sachsen (Saxony) didn't begin civil registration until 1876, so in 1850
you'd want to look for church archives. It is possible that in an area where
there was no Lutheran congregation, the BCBMD records were recorded in the
Catholic church. What the odds are is anyone's guess. It depended upon the
attitude of the local church. See also........
