Re: "Meine 32 Ahnen" by Prochazka.
Chris,
Some years ago I had contacted a relative of yours in Vienna seeking some info on the v. Thelen lineage and mentioned the book. The book has approximately 5 pages of genealogy which supposedly links the v. Thelens of Westphalia to the ones of Oberfranken. Martin had some doubts about the link. There is a later book by Erik v. Glass (don't have the title handy) which does much the same but claims the v. Thelens of Oberfranken stem from the old Saxon family v. Theler, not v. Dolein. My interest is and was some v. Thelens appeared in the Niederrhein around 1618 and there are records to at least 1700 of them around Cologne. I was curious if they were related. I now think this could only be resolved by a search of the records in Dsseldorf.
There is a reference to Prochazka on the site WW-Person of Herbert Stoyan:

As to the Rhenish v. Thelens there is an interesting post

by a Lionel Thelen mentioning this. If there were a link between the Oberfranken and other v. Thelens the only one I can think of is the book mentioned a v. Thelen goin West to the Hague. Interesting, there is a Hague West of the Rheinland but very close I think in either Belgium or the Netherlands. This could explain the appearance of v. Thelens in Mnchengladbach around 1618 (the book, I think, mentioned one going West around 1608).
Martin Berthold Thelen in Vienna could probably provide more information about the Prochazka book.
