Remember that rules often have exceptions... One good example is the name Manon
(female) and it does not bear an "e" at the end...

Also, for many centuries, there were men called Ovide, Ovila, etc... and their
names ended with vowels...

Just be careful when assigning a sex to a name... Now here's a test: What sex
would a person called Herménégilde be? And what about Jean-Marie?
