I tend to agree with Don Watson over the location of a Byron or Byson. I
think it may well be what is the present state of Bavaria (in German, Bayern or
Baiern). And for a while, that included what is now a portion of the Rheinland
Pfalz (Palatinate). You still need to find the village - in U.S. records.

I looked in the Meyers-Orts gazetteer (1912) and there are a dozen or so
entries for villages beginning with By - none with Byr, a few with Bys- but not
Byson.
