The -ke ending on the surname might be an indication that the family
came from the eastern areas of Germany, such as Pommern, EastPrussia,
Westprussia, or perhaps the Neumark area of Brandenburg.

There is a Landsberg city and and Landsberg Kreis (county) in
Brandenburg, not far from Stettin. I believe this could have been in
the Neumark, which included the land east of the Oder River. Stettin
lies on the east side of the Oder.

I'm,afraid, though, that you might still be needing to find the name of
the actual village in Kreis Landsberg. Most of our ancestors came from
the little villages outside the main town for which the Kreis was named.

Have a look at www.kartenmeister.com and enter "Landsberg" in the
location box. On the next screen, click on Landsberg in Landsberg. On
the next screen you'll see some information about the town, as well as a
bottom that will take you to a long list of email addresses of others
who are searching in the same area.

Hope that helps
