Hello,
I'm going to give a little base story on this next request. First my Mother
desceased, told us children that her Father George Torrence Bonstein always
said we were Jewish... I have found no proof. He also said that the family
were really Russian/German. Now in researching the surname Bonstein, I have
found in all the census of the USA, Bonsteins from only two places Russia
and Germany.
My Johann Jacob Bonstein, b. 1754, Ropperhousen (now Grossrouperhousen)
Hesse Kassell, Germany. was a Hessian soldier. I have his ancestry to Cuntz
and Gela Bonstein in the parish records for Grossrouperhousen dated before
1630.
Now the question is where do I go from there? A very kind German Gentleman
did my research for me. That was the earliest he could find a Bonnstein in
Ropperhousen, Germany. WE even have pictures of the town and he identified
the house that the family lived in.. Surprised that it is still
standing...Pictures of the church and font the family was bapitized in... He
was wonderful!
I gusss I should be satisified? But I want more... I want to know if my
German Bonsteins are related to the Russian Bonsteins.
Any ideas where to go from here?
Thank you for any help or ideas given
Regards
Nelda
