Hi Bill,
do you know if your Behnke's might have any connection to the Behnke's who arrived in Ohio in 1881? My line ended up in Youngstown, Ohio and have several Freds and Williams but I don't have a Wilhelmina Schnieder.
There is also a branch in Cleveland that I haven't entirely figured out the relationship, but at least one family from Youngstown travelled back and forth and lived with relatives in Cleveland so there is a connection of some kind. This included a Ferdinand and an Otto Behnke.
Carl Behnke, b. 10 Oct 1849 in Mecklenburg-Strelitz died 13 July 1923 in Trumbull co Ohio and his wife Louise KREIENBRING, b 1853, died 27 NOv 1936.
Carl and Louise had 2 children, Frank and Anna, and travelled to America on SSRhenania to NY arr 7 Nov 1881.
Carl and Louise then had children: Louise(MAGGS), Charles, Ida(DICE), Mary(FREW), Fernie, and Walter.
Also with them was KREIENBRING, Johanna age 64 and KREIENBRING, Minna age 26. All are listed as from Mecklenburg, Charlottenhof.
Carls father is Fred b. 1820 and mother is Caroline Elisabeth Adolphi Fischer, b.1815
Fred (1820) is son of Fred Behnke and Minnie SUMP.
Freds brother was Carl Ernst Christian Behnke who married Marie or Caroline KRAMER and they had son William b. 1855 in Uradel. William m.Caroline SCHMIDT b. 1852 Pinnow.
Let me know if you spot any connections between the families.
