Hello Joel, I too am searching for my Welp line, however in the other
direction ( in Germany/Prussia)! I have no proof that any of my Welps came
to the U.S. If they did they most likely would have gone to Illinois or
Wisconsin. My Gesina (Rosalie) Welp was a second wife to Johann Bernard Putz
(with umlat). First wife was a Welberg and they had 5 children. Gesina
Welp's father was Joan Herman Welp and mother -Anna Maria Lohring (with
umlat). My Welp family all came from Allstatte, Westfalen. My grandmother
said she was HollandDutch and I heard Allstatte is right on the western
border of Germany and Holland -not really that far from Bielefeld.
Interesting that one of your lines has a surname, Wiele. My mother's great
grandparents came from a town of the Catholic parish of Wiele (Wielle) near
Przytarnia, Chojnice, Bydgoszcz, Poland/Prussia. About 75 miles south of
Danzig.
Probably no connections here but I hopeful we could maybe help each other.
