My Gruetzmacher kin arrived in Galveston before the Civil War. As they
stayed on the isle, I can only presume they were not part of the
organized movements bringing German settlers to Texas. In my family,
the name has died out, but I know there are others of this surname in
Texas and elsewhere. Does anyone have research on this name that might
tie together with mine? Thanks for sharing. Greg
