Those two books, written by "Mr. and Mrs" Geue, are the premier
genealogy references for German immigration to Texas. "A new land
beckoned; German immigration to Texas," covers 1844-1847. "New
homes in a new land; German immigration to Texas," covers
1846-1861. They concentrate on individuals and families, pull
together references from a wide variety of sources, and have long
lists of people and what they have gleaned about them. These are
invaluable references but hard to find. The second was reprinted in
paperback but is now out of print again. Keep looking. I finally
found the first one in a used book store. It was signed by the
author and cost me $55, but I gladly paid that.
