A number of years ago I met a lady whos last name was Hingst. I believe there
is a connection but haven't found it yet. I usually try both spellings. Also
haven't found a Christa Hengst but will check into the name.
I found the Brauns (Brown) listed in the 1870 and 1880 census but don't have
copies of the census. Don't know just when Charles Braun came over, but he
enlisted in 3rd New Jersey Cavalry in 1863. Married Elisabeth Lissette
Badinger in 1868 and is listed in 1870 census J. Badinger and Catherine
Badinger (Lisette's father and sister)
Charles F. Braun, wife Lissette (sp-Lesella on census) and 5 children listed
in 1880 census.
appreciate the look-up. If there is any info please let me know.
Since the Hengst didn't come over till 1878, I'll have to go check the 1880
census again for them. Sure be glad when all census are on line, even if I
have to pay to see it. I belong to ancestry.com and have found some great
stuff on their "for members only" area.
Thanks again,
Jeanette Braun Brown
