Subject: [GER-TEX] Friedrich Schuchardt Guadalupe Co. 1860

I have found that Friedrich Ferdnand, widower, with
two children, landed in Galveston aboard the ship
Elisa & Charlotte on 26 Oct 1846. He listed Guadalupe
County as his destination. I have also found him as a
town lot owner of Fredericksburg in 1847. I believe he
shows up in the 1860 Guadalupe Co. census, I have not
seen them as of yet. My question is does anyone have
anything on Friedrich SCHUCHARDT and sons, Carl and
Wilhelm?
I would also like to know the meaning of the two
little dots that the Germans sometimes put above a
letter in their name. Does it take the place of
another letter? Does it make a differance in the way
something is pronounced?
I would appreciate any help with these items.
Barbara
Surnames: THUEM, SCHUCHARDT, SCHNABEL, SCHAEZLER, and
all surnames that connect to THUEM
