Thanks so much for your trouble. Yes I have a copy of the 1850 census and
a fair amount of information regarding Henry after he arrived in
Nacogdoches. I just don't have anything that gives me a solid handle on
where he came from and who his parents might have been. We have speculated
that Frederick might have been his father.

I found a F. Rooks in Houston County and a Henry Rooks in Nacogdoches
County
in the 1846 Poll list for the Republic of Texas. Have you looked at the
1850 census? -Karen
