Forgive me, I meant 1714, not 1774. I struck the wrong key. Guess I should
turn on the lights late at night when I answer these things! George I was
around 55 years old at the time he was enthroned in 1714. And most assuredly
he was dead by 1774 ... although it's been rumoured that dead kings seem to
do less harm than living ones!
George II took the throne in 1727, George III 1761; George IV 1820. George
III was the first of the "Hanoverians" to actually have been born in
England.
