Can anyone give me any information about the German community of Black
Jack Springs in Fayette County?

My deceased husband's father, Frank Kuntschik, was supposedly born at Black
Jack, 6 January 1879, --son of Johann and Theresia Fissel Kuntschik. The
family emigrated from Bremen in 1873 and settled in Fayette county east of
High Hill. About 1880-81 they moved on to LaVaca County and settled
southwest of Shiner, and later they moved to Gonzales County where most of
the extended families still live.

I know there is a Black Jack cemetery and I know there is an association
that meets periodically. This family was of the Catholic faith, but I
don't believe there was a Catholic church close by. No family records are
at High Hill. Someone told me recently that there was a Lutheran church at
Black Jack and they may have attended services there. Does anyone know the
name of the Lutheran church and if there are any records available?

Would appreciate any help!
