Try this site. THC should have listings of all markers.

Yes thanks, we started with that. I should have said that.
t doesn't always have current owners or exact locations, and some of these
re not where they say they are, or behind locked gates, so we were hoping
or personal knowledge by listers who perhaps have seen them already.

ubject: Can someone help with this?

am ashamed to say that I don't have an answer for this one. Where did you
ind the 1890 census?
am sending this to several mailing lists in hopes that one of them can answer
our question. I, for one, would also like to know the answer. Wanda Qualls

ello Wanda:
I just wanted to see if you have any info on my family that was there in 1890.
n order for them to make the Re-construction book (census) they had to meet
hree thing.
was wondering which Three thing you have on them, so I know what I'm looking
or when I get there next year

The 1890 census exists for those who were still living that census year and
ho had served in the Union Army. Nearly every State in existence in 1890
as such a census, and many indexes have been published.

suggest that one check with catalog of the largest genealogical library in
is/her state to see if there exists in that State a published index.

s you can imagine, some States have a LARGE index to such a census--New
ork, for example, where I found listed my *missing* German [a US Army veteran],
whose divorced wife and first four children resided in Texas!!!!

do not know what *three things* were required to appear in the 1890
ensus. I have named two that I know of: 1) You must be living in 1890 2)
ou
ust have served in the Union Army

erhaps the third item is you have to be found by the census-taker!!!!
lways a difficult one!!!

or Texans, I suggest checking the online catalog of the Clayton Library or
he San Antonio Public Library; perhaps the Rosenberg Library in Galveston.
r, for anyone, the Family History Library catalog at _www.familysearch.org_
http://www.familysearch.org) - on the right side of the opening screen.

The Union army? UNION? You mean carpetbaggers? CARPETBAGGERS? Good grief.
I keep telling y'all there was an 1890 census put together from tax records
y the dedicated souls at the historical society but no one is listening to
e as usual.
