Adolph Heuser was my great grandfather's brother, who 'abandoned' his family
and ran away to Australia. However, the original letters I have from
Germany indicate as an old man he was still in Gummersbach. I did some
googling and discovered there was a competition to produce textiles (and
can't find it again) so I think Uncle Adolph went down there to get the
family out of financial difficulty. The Heusers were in the textile
industry.
Does anyone else have any information on Germans in the textile industry in
Australia in the late 1880s early 1900s?
