Subject: [GERMAN-TEXAN] Germans in Texas

Most of the discussion on this list is of the Germans in the hill
county of Texas? Is it permissible to ask about German families in
other areas of Texas? If it is not, just delete my message. The
Eschenbergers arrived in Texas at Galveston and stayed in Bastrop
county. I have recently learned that the manifests of the ships are
now available at Galveston. Unfortunately the web site state that
their servers are being replaced. Does anyone know anything about
this or if the information is available elsewhere? Godfrey
ESCHENBERGER was on the Schooner Magnet from Bremen arriving 2
February 1852. His wife Elizabeth came later that year (December)
from Bremen on the Neptune. I would like to see the manifest as
family lore has that the wife's mother was with her but she died at
sea. It would be nice to get a good surname.
