Hi Group,

Would anyone have the REAL ancestor of my 3rd great grandfather, John
Hitt, b. abt 1772, Fauquier County, VA; d. Mar-Apr 1836 Culpeper County,
VA. Married 25 Nov 1793 Frances (Frankey) Holtzclaw? Conventional
wisdom has him the son of Joseph Hitt, Jr. and the grandson of the
immigrant Peter Hitt (this is the theory that I like). Other
intelligent and logical thinking have him the son of Joseph, Jr.'s
brother John and still the grandson of Peter. And while I am digging up
old ground, who was the wife of Joseph, Jr. b. 1742/43 Culpeper County
and d. 1826, Culpeper County? I have several very good theories but no
proof. Can you help? I can give you family lines on Hitt's from
central Missouri to those few of us left. Thanks for listening to my
tales of woe...............
