I think this would be an interesting subject to discuss as well. My Phillip
CHELF suddenly appears in the Hebron Church registor when he is married to
Barbara (Yager) CLORE. However, none of the children of this marriage seem
to have been baptized in this church and even though Phillip CHELF appears
as a sponsor for some of the children, he doesn't seem to have been a
member until He married the daughter of Adam YAGER. When Adam YAGER died,
he excluded the children of Barbara and Philip CHELF from his will. It
almost appears as if Adam didn't approve his daughter's second marriage.
Perhaps Philip CHELF didn't believe in infant baptism but if this was true,
why would he be a sponsor for others?
Perhaps Philip was a Baptist when he joined the Hebron community and
converted but if so, why wouldn't he have his own children baptized? If he
didn't convert, would he be allowed to participate as a sponsor for others?
Just wondering what others think about this.
Thank you,
Pat
